We offer online courses in interpretation, translation, and language enhancement skills in multiple languages, including French and Spanish.
Dr. Priti Bhatia is a world-renowned expert in French interpretation and translation. She received her training at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, pursuing her Masters (1984) and M. Phil. (1987) in French, focusing on scientific and technical translation, as well as conference interpretation. In 1985, she was awarded a scholarship from the French government, which enabled her to spend a year at the Ecole Supérieure d'Interprètes et de Traducteurs (ESIT), in Paris. Subsequently, she began to work as a translator and interpreter. She obtained her doctorate in 2019. Her thesis, entitled "The profession of interpreters in India (2000-2015): evolution, challenges, training", took stock of the Indian market which has existed during the first fifteen years of the 21st century, by examining not only all aspects of the profession, including the history of interpreting in India, the transformation of the Indian market in the 21st century, as well as the training of Indian interpreters. She subsequently published the contents of her research in a book, titled "Le Métier d’Interprètes en Inde: Évolution, Enjeux, Formation".
She has over 35 years of experience in the field of translation and interpretation. She has translated documents in the fields of education, engineering, technology, nuclear, law, medicine, and energy, including economic and technical documents. She has interpreted for President Zail Singh, former President of the Republic of India, several Indian and French-speaking ministers and dignitaries, and businessmen from French-speaking countries in India. She has also interpreted for several international conferences, including United Nations agencies. She has translated a number of children's books from English to French.
Priti Bhatia has taught professional translation at the Department of French Studies, University of Mumbai, Mumbai. She also works with Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), in New Delhi where she develops courses for various programs such as the diploma in French and the B.A. in French.
